An Introduction to Shakti and the Goddesses of Yoga

Join us in this very special 90-minute introductory class as we explore Shakti and the sacred feminine that manifests in the many beautiful goddesses of yoga!

Feminine narratives are often forgotten and hidden within the yoga dialogue - not here, let’s get into it! Shakti, the universal sacred feminine force of creation and transformation, is the cosmic power at the heart of life and the source of our own embodied personal power. The goddess manifests in all forms, including our own bodies and breath, we will work to internalize and sit with the energetic qualities of different Goddesses within Yoga. Weaving the wisdom of the goddess has the capacity to expand (and transform) your relationship with both your yoga practice and life itself.

Each goddess carries her own unique energy that supports and empowers us in our life journeys. Call upon Durga for strength, protection, and action. Lakshmi for self-compassion and abundance. Bhuvaneshvari to create space for sacred transformation. Kali to clear inner obstacles and call forth our courage. Maha Devi to pull us deeper into spaciousness. Saraswati to express creatively and clearly. Parvati awakens us to our creativity and capacity to love. So many goddesses are here for support and contemplation!

This special 90-minute class taught by Julia involves a slow flow practice, space for self-exploration, and group discourse, and includes an introductory dive into Shakti and a small number of the many goddesses of yoga. We’ll discuss ways to create connections to our own spiritual energy, learn practices for engaging with Shakti energy, and tips for cultivating a connection to the goddess on and off your mat.
